Holland Park has long been regarded as a most desirable suburb for many good reasons.
Founded in the late 1800's, Holland Park really came into its own after WWII.
Located just 8-9 kilometres from the City heart, Holland Park and Holland Park West are more than adequately serviced by superb arterial roads such as the South-East Freeway, Logan Road and Cavendish Road. By private vehicle, the city is literally just 6 minutes away and by public transport, just 10 -15 minutes. The fabulous Gold Coast is just 40 minutes away along the Freeway to the south and the Sunshine Coast is about 60 minutes away via the Gateway Bridge and the Bruce Highway to the north.
SHOPPING: Several major shopping centres surround Holland Park. These include (i) the Greenslopes Shopping Mall (ii) Garden City and (iii) Carindale.
Trendy Stones Corner is just minutes away along Logan Road.
SCHOOLS: Holland Park is serviced very well by both public and private schools. These include - Cavendish Road High School, Holland Park High School, Seville Road Primary, Holland Park State School, Marshall Road State School, St Joachim's Catholic Primary, St Agnes' Catholic Primary, Loretto Catholic Girls School, Villanova Catholic Boys College and Clairvaux MacKillop Co-Educational College.
There are several very good pre-schools and kindergartens in the suburb as well.
GENERAL: Holland Park has a very wide variety of housing styles. These include a few early 1900's cottages, Queenslanders, art deco's (1930's), Housing Commission, post WWII's and some very modern contemporaries. Many of the more expensive properties enjoy the benefits of fabulous full-on city views.
The bottom of the market for houses as at July 2005 is in the vicinity of $300,000. The top end is in the vicinity of $1 million plus. The average is around $350,000. Units have regained their attraction because of their lower "dollar entry" value. The prices of units lie in the range of early $200,000's to $300,000 plus.
Services to the area include a Council library, many lawn bowls clubs, various church and community groups and, of course, excellent public transport.
The suburb is mainly residential. That is, there are not many multi-unit developments and stand-alone dwellings (houses) clearly dominate. There is very little commercial development.
Holland Park has many green-belt areas. Established parks, playgrounds and recreational reserves are easy to find.
